Course Description
Hello teachers!
My name is Ryan and I have taught 4000+ lessons as a free-lance, online teacher on platforms such as iTalki and Preply. In this FREE course I intend to expose you to all that you need to know about getting started as an online free-lance teacher on either of these platforms. Teachers of other platforms, including Cambly, Lingoda, Verbling and others may find this course helpful. These modules address central issues including getting paid, developing lessons, scheduling and more!
The program is organized into four sections, each with a lecture and an accompanying comprehension task. The first section is called “Getting Started”, and explains the first steps for online teachers. The second module is called “Getting Comfortable”, and will give you tips to help you avoid burnout and have a great start on the platform. The third module is called “Getting Good”, which prompts you to think beyond basic teaching tips. The fourth module is titled “Getting Better” which will ideally give you a sense of direction for future improvement.
There are extra resources, including videos and blog posts, provided throughout. Consider this to be a teaser for my paid course for iTalki and Preply teachers which goes much more in depth into the online language teacher pedagogy. I hope that you find this course helpful in preparing to teach online.
