Introduction to Transformative Justice, Transformative Justice.
Course Description
This course is brought to you by One Future Collective. One Future Collective is a feminist social purpose organisation with a vision of a world built on social justice, led by communities of care. We fight for the right of each person to live a life of safety, dignity and belongingness by catalysing people-power and building just institutions.
Transformative justice sounds nice, but what exactly does it mean, and where did it come from? In this self-paced course, we will explore the paradigm of transformative justice by critically analysing its histories, meanings and frameworks. We will also understand how to apply transformative justice lenses and practices in everyday interactions. This course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of meanings, histories, and core-beliefs of Transformative Justice.
Through this course, participants will:
- Learn about the history of transformative justice in indigenous and other marginalised communities,
- Situate it within the larger discourse around alternative justice,
- Establish a few of its core assumptions and beliefs
- Be introduced to the frameworks and skills used to practice TJ,
- Critically assess TJ practices, and
- Find ways to utilise them in everyday leadership practice and conflict resolution.
Trigger warning: Please note that the content contains mentions of gender-based and other forms of violence, which may be difficult for some learners.
We hope you enjoy the course!
Please note that this course is made by One Future Collective to make social justice education freely available for all and is made with very limited funds.
